New Yorkers for Growth Visitor Comments

3/31/2009 — "Did anyone ever hear of CUTTING SPENDING as an alternative to INCREASING TAXES????? There are so many programs that can be cut or be completely dismantled it's breathtaking."

3/31/2009 — "Please stop Governor Paterson --- this is the most bloated budget in US History!! It will bankrupt NYC and hurt NYS for generations to come!!!"

3/31/2009 — "I own a small business and the taxes are killing me now. Additional taxes will backfire. We need to cut spending!!"

3/31/2009 — "Thank you for taking the lead on these critical issues and for your commitment to returning the state to the greatness it once knew! Please call upon me if I can be of assistance at any level."

3/31/2009 — "Keep up the good work!"

3/31/2009 — "This needs to be stopped and now. We have chased allot of jobs from our state and they are not coming back"

3/31/2009 — "My significant other & I lost our jobs with the senate.....he had 23 yrs in and less than 2 more to retire...we are in BIG trouble with this party in control, they do NOT know what they are doing. They are taking people who have low paying jobs & letting them go, while keeping people who do nothing & get paid over $100K!!!! And they gave us the reason our lay off was due to "BUDGET CUTS"...while in a meeting at the LOB last week the Unemployment office informed people to put "lack of work" on their unemployment applications!!! Go figure...."

3/31/2009 — "Does NY State really want to go to just a socialistic or welfare state? I would just like to succeed as a working individual and at this stage; other states are really looking good. We are presently employing 14 people!"

3/31/2009 — "In addition to a petition for stopping these targeted tax heights, can you create a petition that lets Albany know that we want ALL municipal employees to pay a minimum of 25% of their healthcare/benefit costs? In addition we want all their pensions taxed at the same rate as the private sector. This is the fair tax structure that is absolutely necessary to lower our local taxes and bring true fairness. We need it NOW."

3/31/2009 — "Stop the out of control spending- tighten your belts and give the people a chance to spend & save what they have worked for."

3/31/2009 — "School taxes are a burden to seniors"

3/31/2009 — "How can they justify passing Rockefeller laws when our financial house is in ruins. There is no $15bn gap if they do not increase spending. The governor's pay raises to staff and other bureaucrats are insane and must be stopped."

3/31/2009 — "NO MORE TAXES!! ENOUGH!!"

3/31/2009 — "Our state economy is already in shambles because of high taxes on those who create wealth and jobs. Why can't people look at history and follow what works? Low taxes create growth and jobs. High taxes destroy them. The real problem is that our government is too big. Yes, it's that simple."

3/27/2009 — "This is a great organization to alert the people to the gradual socialism that is spreading in this country."

3/26/2009 — "My husband and I were relocated to NY State for his federal job. We took an enormous pay cut, as I am unable to be employed as a full-time teacher in our area. The obscene amount of NY state taxes that we pay are ridiculous! If there was SOMETHING to show for paying these atrocious amounts, then it could be SOMEWHAT justified."

3/26/2009 — "In the 1970's company's & individuals left NY in droves. In fact if NY continues on this path, my wife & I may be out of here too. I don't get near the benefits the State workers will receive & I don't want to fund them with my measly retirement savings if taxes have to be increased."

3/25/2009 — "No more new taxes."

3/24/2009 — "Stop raising our taxes and start by cutting your salary, lulus and perks, then we'll talk!"

3/24/2009 — "I Live on $13,134 Social Security. I must not Loose Star!"

3/24/2009 — "Do not raise income tax of New Yorkers."

3/24/2009 — "It is possible a number of us will lose our homes, since New York State is way overpriced as it is. Those of us losing our Star supplemental payments are even more sorely pressed."

3/23/2009 — "I've been a NYS resident for 68 of my 72 years. I've seen our state decline for over-taxation to its present pathetic condition. You want to make it worse??"

3/23/2009 — "When us is somebody in Albany going to show that they have morals and do the right thing for a change"

3/23/2009 — "When will the so-called "poor" wake up to the fact that an income tax raise always affects the guy on the bottom first. Long before the "millionaires" feel a thing. The little guy's prices all go up and his job become more iffy."

3/23/2009 — "While some people have high taxable income, sometimes there are liquidity issues and paying these higher taxes is a burden at the wrong time. Some of us are trying to keep small businesses afloat and these costs take away from those businesses."

3/24/2009 — "I sent both my children (from Kindergarten through 12th grade) through two of the best private schools in the United States. Their high school tuition was $19,000 each. They started foreign languages in 1st grade and Latin in 8th grade. Their SATS were excellent and went onto top colleges (and the Navy). There is no reason why public schools can't deliver the education my children received for the huge amount of funds the public schools receive. Though I am a private, boarding school graduate and received my BA and JD from Columbia, I am not considered educated enough to teach at a public school. This makes no sense."

3/22/2009 — "How about a little consideration for the tax payers, the greed of the teacher's unions and non-caring legislators will force me out of this sate yet."

3/21/2009 — "It is appalling how there are so many people who want to feed off the hard work of others who have strived for success."

3/24/2009 — "I've been a NYS resident for 68 of my 72 years. I've seen our state decline for over-taxation to its present pathetic condition. You want to make it worse??"

3/23/2009 — "While some people have high taxable income, sometimes there are liquidity issues and paying these higher taxes is a burden at the wrong time. Some of us are trying to keep small businesses afloat and these costs take away from those businesses."

3/21/2009 — "No more tax increases. We, the people, can not carry any more fiscal burdens."

3/21/2009 — "Thanks for your recent updates on gov't costs... It's a bit difficult to fathom why gov't isn't cutting costs to the bone before jacking up taxes and fees... where is the public outrage? Is the public so mesmerized by gov't that they no longer question gov't spending and expansion? Your continued efforts in this regard are appreciated..."

3/18/2009 — "Good job! Keep it going! Stop the tax insanity!"

3/22/2009 — "How about a little consideration for the tax payers, the greed of the teacher's unions and non-caring legislators will force me out of this sate yet."

3/17/2009 — "We must not continue to drive high income individuals out of New York by raising taxes. Low and middle income people will not be able to provide sufficient revenue to support the state."

3/17/2009 — "New York needs to CUT taxes across the board. I resent all the ads that malign the Governor's tax cuts!"

3/17/2009 — "The tax notion has to be discouraged if we are to avoid 22K further job losses in the harried NYS economy."

3/14/2009 — "Please start to cut social programs and pork, we cannot afford the tax and spend politics anymore. Our State representatives should be ashamed of themselves."

3/12/2009 — "This needs to be stopped and now. We have chased allot of jobs from our state and they are not coming back"

3/10/2009 — "This will just be another nail in NY's coffin if this goes through. Thanks."

3/12/2009 — "I have lived in New York all my life and I hate this state so much. The taxes are just unreal. Everyone is going through a tough time right now and all you can think about is raising taxes. A lot of people are close to losing their homes, they can't afford mortgages because of lay-offs and the taxes we pay in this are unreal. A you people think about is putting money in your own pockets or money in the rich people's pockets but us hard working people get screwed all the way around. You are the reason for all the crime committed in this state and I hope your proud of yourselves. New York has got to be one of the worst states for the government caring about the people in it."

3/11/2009 — "I am opposed to the so called millionaire's tax."

3/10/2009 — "We don't need higher taxes we need more tax payers!!! Lowering taxes attracts more tax payers to the state!"

3/10/2009 — "Baby boomers are close to retirement. A tax increase like this will push more of them to Florida. We need as many high income earners as possible in NYS. We can not afford to drive any of them out."

3/10/2009 — "No new taxes. Eliminate waste in government. Support school choice."

3/10/2009 — "No new taxes!!"

3/9/2009 — "We need to be cutting taxes, trimming the NY bureaucracy and restoring economic vitality to our state. There should be absolutely no new taxation."

3/9/2009 — "Reduce the size of government. Lower taxes. It's that simple."

3/9/2009 — "Stop this madness now! Individuals are forced to live within their means, and so should Albany and Washington for that matter."

3/9/2009 — "Please, I cannot afford to pay any more taxes whether on regular soda or gas. Please, please, no more taxes"

3/9/2009 — "Dear Albany...NY and the nation must grow ourselves out of this crisis, not have trillion dollar band aids applied to the festering wounds..."

3/9/2009 — "Thank God somebody out there is fighting this disgrace. Thank you!"

3/9/2009 — "No tax increases!"

3/9/2009 — "Less government equals more economic growth and more jobs. Socialism has been tried and it does not work!"

3/9/2009 — "I am opposed to ANY tax increase of any kind! It is time for NYS to spend less and learn to live with it."

3/9/2009 — "It's getting to the point that there's no reason for individuals or businesses to remain in New York."

3/9/2009 — "How about an across the board cut in state spending????"

3/9/2009 — "Supply side economics has at it's foundation competitive taxes which has not been the case in NYS for decades. The State has frankly been in a slow death spiral for a long time slowed by boom periods on Wall Street. Were one to predict long term decreases in return on capital for Wall Street and logically lower compensation for financial service employees (disproportionately the source of high income earners and thus tax revenue), then the future of NYS/NYC is bleak. Increasing taxes would accelerate the loss of jobs across all industries. Wall Street moves to Stamford and Greenwich (or Charlotte, NC) as did so many industrial corporations between 1968 and 1985? NYS can not print money as Uncle Sam can and must be competitive with numerous states, London, etc. Thanks for the great work."

3/9/2009 — "I am opposed to the tax increase being pushed by the Working Families Party. I am opposed to any income tax rate hike for that matter."

3/6/2009 — "Seriously, what can we do to stop these crazy taxes?? I can't wait to move out of NY when my husband retires."

3/3/2009 — "Taxes are killing new york.. The only way to re-start the engine is reducing real estate taxes. This would jump-start the housing market and reduce everyone's PAIN. We need help!!!!"
