It's Official, Tony Jordan to Run for State Assembly

Businessman, former Assistant D.A. seeks to cap property taxes, reduce state spending, eliminate gas taxes, cut prescription drug costs, preserve open space and farms

Tony Jordan, a proud father of four children and an attorney from Jackson in Washington County, today joined with his family, friends and other supporters at Gavin Park in Wilton to officially kick-off his campaign for the 112th Assembly District seat (Saratoga, Rensselaer and Washington Counties). The seat is currently held by Assemblyman Roy McDonald who is running for state Senate.

Jordan is running to ease the growing financial squeeze being placed on middle class families and seniors by soaring gas and home heating oil prices, rising property taxes, out of control state spending, and increasing health care costs.

"As a businessman, father of four and husband of 21 years to my wife, Wendy, who comes from a family of third generation dairy farmers, I know that making ends meet here in Upstate New York is a never-ending challenge. The only way for families to escape this is for Albany to change," said Jordan.

"Too many families are getting squeezed, whether it's at the gas pumps, the grocery store or paying their property tax bills. It's time for Albany to help middle-class families and seniors," said Jordan.

"Together, we can change Albany by capping property taxes, reducing out-of-control spending, eliminating gas and diesel taxes, reducing prescription drug costs, and preserving open space and farmland," added Jordan. "As Assemblyman, I pledge to be independent of political bosses and work across party lines for smart, common sense solutions to help our area thrive."

"I'm realistic - I know that Albany can't change overnight. However, I promise that I will be an independent voice and be the outspoken fighter that the residents of Saratoga, Washington and Rensselaer Counties deserve. It is that attitude that can and will make me a catalyst for the positive change we need," concluded Jordan.

Jordan, a former Washington County Assistant District Attorney, is a partner in the law firm of Jordan & Kelly LLC. He earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and received his bachelor's degree in business and finance from the University of Notre Dame.

Jordan is an active community volunteer with the Greenwich Lions Club, Cornell University FarmNet Program, the Cub Scouts, youth soccer, and does pro-bono legal work for several fire companies and rescue squads.

Tony and Wendy (Skellie) Jordan have four children: Gabrielle (Gabby), 12, Tricia, 10, Luke, 8, and Eliza, 7.
