New Yorkers for Growth: WFP Should Stand for 'Wacky Fiscal Policy'
New York, NY-July 23...New York State's high-spending, left-wing Working Families Party today launched a blistering attack on five New York Democrats who have not signed off on the ever-changing Democratic health care legislation in Washington, according to fiscal reform organization New Yorkers for Growth, which obtained a copy of the Working Families Party (WFP) email missive.
The WFP email, signed by the Party's executive director Dan Cantor, attacks by name Democratic House members Scott Murphy (NY-20), Nita Lowey (NY-18), Mike McMahon (NY-13), Eric Massa (NY-29), and Dan Maffei (NY-25).
The email, announcing a pressure campaign against the five House members, begins:
"We have to act fast. Five Democratic Members of Congress from New York are putting the brakes on President Obama's historic campaign to reform our broken healthcare system.
"Legislation that would expand healthcare coverage for tens of millions of Americans is gaining steam in Congress. But these five New York Representatives are stalling the bill because it pays for reform with a modest tax on the rich."
"When the WFP says 'we have to act fast', hold onto your wallet," said New Yorkers for Growth board member, Larchmont Mayor Liz Feld. "Those three letters-WFP-spell Wacky Fiscal Policy. The Working Families Party agenda threatens to drive New York State into bankruptcy, and now they're pushing a reckless, take-no-prisoners approach to national healthcare reform. We all want healthcare reform, but the kind that saves us money, not the kind that adds trillions more in debt to the nation's balance sheet. This isn't a race. Faster isn't better when you're talking about repairing a system that affects millions and millions of people."
