New Yorkers for Growth will evaluate candidate records in office to determine whether they will support policies of fiscal responsibility and reform. Challengers will be evaluated depending on their commitments and proposals made to the people of their legislative district.
Endorsements will be non-partisan and the PAC will support candidates, regardless of party, who express support for policies of fiscal responsibility at the state and local level.
In particular, candidates for state legislature will be evaluated on their positions regarding the following: limitations on state and local spending increases; caps on local property taxes; limitations on the ability of the legislature to adopt new state debt without voter approval; reform of mandates on school districts and local governments, including pension reform, "Triborough" law reform governing how employee contracts are negotiated; repeal of the "Wicks Law", governing how government construction contracts are issued; and, imposition of term limits for statewide elected officials and state legislative leaders.
